Marisa graduated summa cum laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where she majored in magazine journalism. She began her career as a digital editor at Seventeen and Prevention magazines, and taught the magazine department’s first-ever digital course, “Writing and Editing for Magazine Websites.”
Marisa spent six years as the digital director for bestselling author Beth Kobliner, directing blogging, social media, PR and marketing strategy. She also co-founded The Résumé Hero, a custom résumé and cover letter service.
Marisa is author of "The Goodbye Diaries: A Mother-Daughter Memoir" (Wyatt-MacKenzie, May 2019). As a freelance writer, her work has been featured in Glamour, PopSugar, Good Morning America, HuffPost, The Rumpus, TIME, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and more.
Marisa lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Mark (also an SU alum!), and two children.
