Neal Coffey

Neal has over 40 years experience in television production and engineering. Neal became manager of operations and engineering for the Dick Clark Studios in 2014. Neal has worked closely with Newhouse and SU Athletics in developing the technology used for the ESPN / ACC Network partnership which launched in 2017.

Neal has taught courses part time at the Newhouse School for almost two decades.  He currently teaches Cinematography, Directing with Automated Production, Video Engineering and is an Avid-certified instructor.

Prior to joining Newhouse, Neal managed the video production unit at Syracuse University for 27 years. Freelance credits include local, national and international clients as director of photography. Neal has also designed and built video production systems used in news, sports and entertainment.

Neal has a Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications (Newhouse 1983) and master’s degree in media administration (Newhouse / School of Management 1989) from Syracuse University.
