Julie Walas

Julie Walas oversees the Newhouse School's recruitment and enrollment initiatives, as well as our Visitor’s Center, which welcomes thousands of prospective Newhouse students each year. Julie and her team offer both virtual and in-person programming and events that highlight the Newhouse student experience and help new students find their fit here. She also plays a major role in Newhouse's student engagement operation and finds ways to build camaraderie and offer interesting experiences exclusive to Newhouse students. She joined the Newhouse staff in February 2021.

Walas has been with Syracuse University in various admissions, alumni and student facing roles since 2007. She also serves as the coach of Syracuse’s beloved Mascot program: Otto the Orange.

She is a graduate of the Newhouse School.
