Anita M. Cal is a versatile, award-winning storyteller who’s had the opportunity to write, produce and line produce with a diverse range of talent in the industry, from Taraji P. Henson to Rutger Hauer ("Batman," "Blade Runner") to Emmy-winning re-recording sound mixer Michael Archacki. As a writer, she’s penned comedy for TBS’s Tyler Perry's "House of Payne" and "Meet The Browns," as well as Colours TV’s “The Chin Chens.”

Cal landed her first development deal with Showtime for a feature family drama, “Kinfolks” while still in graduate school. Her screenplay, "Fathers of God," a gripping thriller that exposes the grim secrets of Catholic priests, won a Garry Marshall Best Screenplay Award, and was a Nicholl Fellowship semi-finalist and Chesterfield Writer’s Film Project quarterfinalist.

Cal is the creator and producer “Beyond the Badge,” a drama pilot that earned admission into the Seriesfest Film Festival. A former Los Angeles Times cop and education reporter, Cal is known by her students as “Dr. C."
