Anita M. Cal is a versatile award-winning storyteller who’s had the opportunity to write, produce, and line produce with a diverse range of talent in the industry, from Taraji P. Henson to the legendary Rutger Hauer (Batman, Blade Runner) and Emmy-winning re-recording sound mixer Michael Archacki. As a writer, she’s penned comedy for TBS’s Tyler Perry's "House of Payne" and "Meet The Browns," as well as Colours TV’s “The Chin Chinns.”

Cal landed her first development deal with Showtime for a feature family drama, “Kinfolks” while still in graduate school. Her screenplay, "Fathers of God," a gripping thriller that exposes the grim secrets of Catholic priests, won a Garry Marshall Best Screenplay Award, and was a Nicholl’s Fellowship semi-finalist and Chesterfield Writer’s Film Project quarterfinalist.

Cal is the creator and producer “Beyond the Badge,” a drama pilot that earned admission into the Seriesfest Film Festival. Currently, Anita’s writing a crime romance thriller for Lifetime network. A former Los Angeles Times cop and education reporter, Anita’s known by her college students as “Dr. C."
