Weijia Jiang says unanswered questions keep her up at night.

“My brain is saturated with unanswered questions and answers I need to seek,” says the Newhouse alumna, who is the White House correspondent for CBS News.

The Newhouse School hosted an online conversation with Jiang May 8 via Zoom. Associate Dean Joel Kaplan moderated the event, during which Jiang discussed her job covering the Trump administration during the COVID-19 pandemic. The talk covered everything from social media to press conferences to the relationship between the president and the media.

Jiang says her role as a White House correspondent is a dream job.

“Every day when I walk through those gates and I see the White House and I see the American flag and I understand my rights as a journalist—it’s moving. It never gets old.”

Some 300 students, alumni and friends of the Newhouse School participated in the event.
