Dan Pacheco, of the Newhouse School, spent much of last summer working at the Des Moines Register in Iowa on the “Harvest of Change Project,” which was recently awarded a prestigious Edward R. Murrow journalism award.

Pacheco, the Peter A. Horvitz Endowed Chair in Journalism Innovation at Newhouse, was associate producer of the project, focusing on the virtual reality aspects of the multimedia story. Recent Newhouse graduate Irfan Uraizee ’15 worked as an intern on the project as well.

“Harvest of Change” tells the story of a changing family farm in Page County, Iowa through 3D game interaction and 360-degree video. The project was produced through Gannett Digital media.
