Jake Herrle, Alec Erlebacher honored by Momenta Workshops

The Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Momenta Workshops and the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) today announced that two Newhouse photography students are scholarship winners based on their work in the school's 2014 Fall Workshop, which was held Oct. 16-19. The students' work was chosen by a popular vote of workshop instructors, a diverse and experienced group of professionals from across the country.

Jake Herrle, a graduate student in the multimedia photography and design (MPD) department, won a full scholarship to a domestic workshop with Momenta Workshops. His piece, The King of Scrap, was selected as the Best Overall Project from a field of more than 40 entries. Momenta has sponsored the award for four years. Past winners include John Liau, Jason Greene and Michelle Gabel.

Alec Erlebacher, also a graduate student in MPD, won a full scholarship to attend the Northern Short Course in Photojournalism hosted by the NPPA in March 2015. Erlebacher’s piece, A Big Bite, received the award for Best Story Concept. Past winners include Annie Flanagan and Megan McNally.
