'The Stand' awarded Community Listening and Engagement Fund grant

April 11, 2019

Greg Munno, assistant professor in magazine, news and digital journalism, and Ashley Kang, director of The Stand, received a Community Listening & Engagement Fund [CLEF] grant. The CLEF grant provides funds to help community-based news organizations like The Stand, which serves the South Side community of Syracuse, connect with and provide stronger coverage for the communities they serve.

Munno and Kang will work with The Listening Post Collective to conduct an information needs survey over the summer to find ways to further engage a greater number of South Side residents with its community newspaper project. The assigned Listening Post Coach is Angilee Shah.

The aim is for the Listening Post consultant to visit Syracuse when The Stand's annual Photo Walk is held July 27. This summer will mark the project's 10th year holding the Photo Walk through the South Side.
