Sandra Cordova Micek ’91 named chair of Newhouse Advisory Board

Sandra Cordova Micek ’91 has been named chair of the Newhouse Advisory Board. The announcement was made today by Newhouse interim dean Amy Falkner.

Micek is president and CEO of Window To The World Communications Inc., parent organization of WTTW, Chicago’s PBS station, and WFMT, Chicago’s classical music radio station. She is responsible for all strategic, financial, operating and development activities of the organization.

Previously, Micek served as senior vice president of global brands for Hyatt, and also co-led Hyatt’s diversity business resource group, Latinos at Hyatt.

Before that, she was senior vice president of marketing for USA Today, where she was actively involved in the company’s digital transformation. She also ran Women at NBCU, and spent almost 10 years in Silicon Valley holding strategic management positions at Yahoo! and Accenture. She began her career at Turner Broadcasting in New York.

Micek is an alumna of the television, radio and film program at the Newhouse School, and earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was the Ford Motor Company Marketing Scholar.

Micek has earned numerous awards, including two Shorty Awards, honoring the best in social media; the Mobile Marketing Association’s Smartie Award, recognizing innovation in marketing; the Fast Company Innovation by Design Award; and a Silver Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. She also earned a Brand Innovator Award and the Latina Style Award for her professional achievements. In 2019, she was named the McCormick Foundation Fellow in the inaugural class of Leadership Greater Chicago’s Daniel Burnham Fellowship program for C-level executives.
