Procter & Gamble group president Deborah Henretta G’85 to keynote Newhouse Convocation Ceremony May 10

Deborah Henretta G’85, group president of global beauty at Procter & Gamble (P&G), will deliver the keynote address at the Newhouse Convocation Ceremony this May.


The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 10, at noon in the Carrier Dome. All graduating students, their families and friends are invited to attend.

Henretta leads P&G’s world-wide beauty business with a portfolio of more than 50 brands including Olay, Pantene, CoverGirl, Clairol, Head & Shoulders, Old Spice, Safeguard, Secret, Herbal Essences and Wella.

In her previous role as group president of Asia, P&G’s Asia business doubled in size between 2005 and 2010. Henretta was also instrumental in P&G being awarded the Asia Human Capital Award for outstanding and innovative people approaches.

Ranked No. 17 on Fortune Magazine’s 2014 Global List of the Most Powerful Women in Business, Henretta was also acknowledged this year as one of Beauty’s 50 Most Influential People by Beauty Inc. Henretta is an influential voice in global business and is actively involved in defining and driving business progress linked to economic development.

In 2008, Henretta received a U.S. State Department appointment to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)’s Business Advisory Council (ABAC). In 2011, she was appointed chair of this 21-economy council, becoming the first woman to hold the position. In this role, she advised top government officials including President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Henretta currently serves on board of directors of Corning Incorporated and the board of trustees for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

A Newhouse alumna, she is a member of the school’s Advisory Board.
