Photography alumnus places 3rd in national Hearst Award competition for multimedia

Colin Davy '20 placed 3rd among the multimedia competitors in the Hearst Journalism Awards, earning him a $5,000 scholarship prize. Davy's project, “The City of Vilomah,” was about two Syracuse families who lost sons to gun violence. The project was developed with the help of visual communications chair Bruce Strong and published on The NewsHouse, and was also recognized in the Hearst Competition as Multimedia Story of the Year, which granted Davy another $1,000 prize.

In this year's Hearst competition, the Newhouse School placed sixth overall in the intercollegiate rankings, fourth in Writing, fifth in Radio & Television and seventh in Multimedia.
