The ninth-annual South Side Photo Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, starting from the Eat to Live Food Cooperative, 2323 S. Salina St. The event will open with a photo lesson by professional photographers followed by a walk through the neighborhood to capture a typical day on the South Side.

The event is free and open to all regardless of age or skill level. The Stand has some cameras available to lend to anyone that doesn’t have their own equipment or a phone with which to take pictures.

After the walk, participants will share their photos and enjoy a free catered lunch. The day’s best shots will be published in the September print issue of The Stand.

New this year, select images will be showcased in a September photo exhibit at The Link Gallery, 350 W. Fayette St.

The Photo Walk is a project of The Stand South Side Newspaper Project, which won a Finding Common Ground grant of approximately $12,000 to expand this summer’s Photo Walk.

The Stand is a newspaper project covering Syracuse’s South Side neighborhood and produced in partnership with Newhouse students, Syracuse residents and a community board of directors.
