Newhouse students place in Hearst Sportswriting competiion

Two Newhouse students, sophomore Michael McCleary (newspaper and online journalism) and senior Sam Fortier (magazine), placed in the top 10 in the Hearst Sports Writing competition, 5th and 6th place, respectively.

McCleary received a $1000 scholarship for his entry, "When athletes look to transfer, schools have all the power" written for the Daily Orange.

Foritier placed for his piece on the closing of St. Anthony’s, a high school basketball powerhouse, "St. Anthony's Unanswered Prayer," published by The Ringer.
