Charter Communications exec Gary Schanman ’92 joins Newhouse Advisory Board

Gary Schanman ‘92, a senior media executive with over 25 years of experience in TV/video, interactive, web development and advertising, has joined the Newhouse Advisory Board

Schanman, who is senior vice president, video products at Charter Communications, is a leader with strong record of building and managing large teams to bring industry-leading products and business models to market. He has extensive experience driving all aspects of the product value chain, including strategy creation, business development, product design and development, profit and loss management and operations.

At Charter, Schanman oversees the strategy, development and management of the company’s rapidly evolving video product portfolio across platforms. He also partners with the media sales team to build advanced advertising products and platforms.

He previously held several leadership positions at Cablevision. Prior to that, Schanman worked in product management for as a strategy consultant in the media strategy practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers and as an account manager at Young & Rubicam and Ogilvy & Mather. 

Schanman holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan and joint bachelor’s degrees in advertising from the Newhouse School and finance from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.
