Popularity of Drones

Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, 6 p.m. Boston

Presented by the Syracuse University Alumni Association

Syracuse University researchers are conducting exciting and groundbreaking research on drones, which have seen a rise in popularity in recent years. Join alumni from the greater Boston area for a fascinating discussion in a picturesque location with unmatched views of Boston and the harbor.

Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud will provide opening remarks. Dan Pacheco, Peter A. Horvitz Endowed Chair in Journalism Innovation at the Newhouse School, and Yang Wang, assistant professor at the School of Information Studies, will discuss drones and how they’re being used in research and teaching efforts across campus and beyond.

SU Trustee Darlene DeRemer ’77, G’79 and her husband, Russel DeRemer ’77, a director on the Syracuse University Alumni Association Board, will introduce the Chancellor and our panelists.

Kara Matuszewski Sassone ’00 will moderate our program. Attendees can ask questions and learn from the experts about how drones play a role in everyday life—in ways you might never have imagined—and can put people’s privacy at risk.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with a reception, followed by the panel discussion at 6:40 p.m. A closing reception will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Location: The State Room, Harborside Salon, 60 State Street, 33rd Floor Boston.

Tickets are $10 for alumni and guests, $5 for youth (under the age of 21). Cost includes drinks, appetizers and our program.
