Christine Rushton

Christine Rushton is a freelance and contract journalist writing in Washington, D.C. for the Los Angeles Times and Capital Community News. She obtained her master’s at the Newhouse School in 2015, and started teaching digital journalism in Newhouse’s online master’s program in 2016.

In addition to her journalism bachelor’s from Washington State University and her master’s from Newhouse, Rushton holds a bachelor’s in music performance on flute from WSU and teaches a studio of pianists near her home on Capitol Hill in Washington. So far, she’s traveled on reporting trips to Cuba, Guatemala and Palestine, and you can find her work in the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Capital Community News, Syracuse.com and more. She is also a former Fellowship at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) fellow.
