The Alexia promotes the power of photojournalism to give voice to social injustice, to respect history lest we forget it and to understand cultural difference as our strength—not our weakness.
Through grants, scholarships and special projects, The Alexia supports photographers as agents for change. More than 1.7 million in grants has gone to 170 student and professional photographers through the program’s annual competitions.
At a time when many other resources have dwindled, The Alexia continues to support photojournalism on academic and professional levels.
Mike Davis, Alexia Tsairis Chair in Documentary Photography, is the program director.
