Robin Toner Program in Political Reporting

The Toner Program was established at the Newhouse School in 2009 to celebrate the life and work of late alumna Robin Toner ’76, the first woman to serve as national political correspondent for The New York Times.

The program includes the annual Toner Prizes for Excellence in Political Reporting, each of which carries a $5,000 honorarium. The Prizes are awarded at the Toner Celebration in Washington, D.C., a gala gathering of political stars, alumni and prominent communications professionals.  In addition, the prize winners visit campus to meet students and deliver the Toner Lecture.

Winners in the 2021 Toner Prizes competition were announced March 26.
