Syracuse to South Africa

In 2010, nine students traveled to Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown), South Africa in 2010, sending their reports to The Stand, the newspaper serving Syracuse’s South Side.

The “big idea” behind all of this: To produce video profiles of the residents of two similar cities on opposite sides of the globe. Our students found that while the cities were a world apart, the people were not. People—indeed—have a great deal in common. They hope to live well, so that others who follow will live better.
