SU WILL COSPONSOR
EVENT THROUGH AT LEAST 2011
A Letter of Agreement has been signed between the
Society for News Design and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public
Communications to continue its long-term relationship with the
competition through at least the 2011 judging.
The SND Board unanimously directed its Executive
Director to work out the agreement with the school. "This
is an exciting competition for both SND and the School," says
C. Marshall Matlock who will continue to direct the judging for
the School.
The 26th Edition judging that took place in February
2005 was the School's 17th year of cosponsoring the international
design competition.
SU RECEIVES HONOR AT WASHINGTON,
D.C. WORKSHOP
The Society for News Design sponsors its annual international workshop
each fall and in 2004 the event took place in Washington,
D.C. Sept.

Many sessions took place over the three-day event with Newhouse
School graduate Scott Goldman, The Washington Post assistant sports
editor at the time,
in charge of organizing the event.
It was at this workshop that the Newhouse School was recognized
for its 15 years of service to SND in cosponsoring the annual competition
each February.
PLAQUE HONORS NEWHOUSE STUDENTS & FACULTY
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University
was recognized at the annual awards dinner in Washington, D.C. for
its 15 years of cosponsoring the competition. A plaque was presented:
"For extraordinary contributions to the
Society for News Design's 'Best of Newspaper Design™ Competition'
program, 1989 – 2003
to the
Students and Faculty
at the
S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications,
Syracuse University.
In 15 consecutive years of hosting the SND competition,
more than 300 of the school's Students and Faculty have made a difference
to visual journalists and to newspaper readers around the world.
Thank you for your tireless efforts."
The plaque, signed by the SND President and bearing the SND logo,
is proudly displayed in the Newhouse Communications Center lobby for
all to see.
