This
site has been updated and now has a new URL address. To get
the most up-to-date information please visit http://www.SU-SND.org/.
The news site contains information about the SU / SND student
affiliate and much more information about
annual Best of Newspaper Design™ Creative Competition co-sponsored
by the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse
University.
Welcome to the SU / SND
Web site representing Syracuse University’s Society for
News Design student affiliate at the S.I. Newhouse School of
Public Communications. If you wish the MOST UP TO DATE information
please go to the site above.

The
Newhouse Communications Center presently consists of two buildings
(the first is pictured above). A third building is scheduled to be
completed by the end of 2006.
You will find much information
at this site that will help you to better understand the affiliate’s
purpose and how the annual The Best of Newspaper Design™ Creative
Competition works.
For specifics about the
international SND organization and specific information and images
about the competition winners for a specific year we invite you to
visit http://www.snd.org.
For the inner workings
of the judging and the student affiliate you have reached the right
site.
This site is organized
into subject areas. We have tried to be as complete and specific as
possible covering each topic so it puts each area into perspective.
The judging process is complex. With more than 12,000 entries each
year – an entry can be one page or hundreds of pages –
even being at the judging leaves many of the judges and assistants
in awe. It is not easy to explain the judging process but we have
given it our best shot. We will update this site as new information
is available and as procedures are changed so keep checking back for
the most-up-to-date information.
Much of the information
contained on this site at this point involves the 2002 - 2003 competitions. As we get
closer to 2005 more information will be included for the 2004 competition,
which will be the 26th Edition of this worldwide event.
The S.I. Newhouse School
of Public Communications is a co-sponsor of the annual competition
and is host each February to the judging. The 2004 judging was the
17th year the School has co-sponsored the event and SND’s 25th
Edition competition.
We hope you find this site
useful and welcome suggestions, questions and comments. These may
be sent to Prof. Marshall Matlock at the
Newhouse School.
Enjoy!
