Broadcast Journalism:

Broadcast journalism graduates go on to careers both in front of and behind the cameras. Front-of-camera careers include on-air reporting, sportscasting, weathercasting, investigative reporting, and program hosting, among others. Behind the scenes positions fall into a broad category known as producers. These are the men and women who decide which stories make the newscast, which will lead the broadcast, and how long each will run. Producers also research stories and coach reporters at the scene. In addition to the services of the Newhouse Career Development Center, graduating students can take advantage of the broad network of alumni who work at both the national news networks and at thousands of local stations as well. Alumni are eager to help new graduates get that foot in the door and to mentor them as they rise through the ranks.
