New Media:
The new media program prepares students for the future of mass media. Offered in conjunction with Syracuse University's School of Information Studies, this program provides students with the skills necessary for today's online and computer-based communications industries.
By blending content and technology with analysis of current industry regulations, students prepare to be new media producers and managers for projects such as news web sites and disk-based ventures. The new media master's program emphasizes the design and structuring of traditional mass media content for broadband delivery. Students learn the fundamentals of content creation, design, and technology through their Newhouse School coursework and explore infrastructure issues in coursework at the School of Information Studies.
Students in the new media program have access to the Newhouse School's computer labs, digital video cameras, sound studios, and production software. During their studies, students may choose to work with Syracuse.com, Syracuse's leading provider of localized online content.
Students begin their studies in early July. Most complete the program the following summer with a new media workshop in May and June. The program's 36 required credits are shared between the Newhouse School and the School of Information Studies.
