Newhouse students win at New York State Associated Press Association awards

The New York State Associated Press Association held their annual award banquet in Saratoga Springs, NY on June 3, 2017, and Newhouse dominated three of the four college-level awards announced, with four seniors either winning or placing in the competition.

In the College Radio division, Emma Petterson won the Chris Ulanowski Memorial Award for Best News Story with her piece, "Roller Derby Skates into Mainstream Sports." Joe Bloss took third place in that category for "The Lost Tapes: How the Cassette Found Its Way Back."

In the College Television division, "Mornings on the Hill" took top honors for Best Regularly Scheduled Local News Program. For Best News Story, Meghan Mistry won with "The Bottle Man Dedicates His Life to Breast Cancer Fundraising," and Lauren Sinatra came in second with "Tiny Homes to Fight Homelessness."
