Longtime political reporter Adam Clymer died Sept. 10. He was 81.

Clymer was generous to many academic programs, including the Toner Program at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. The program honors political journalism and Clymer’s late colleague, former New York Times chief political correspondent Robin Toner, who was an alumna of Syracuse University.

“Adam Clymer was one of the best friends the Toner Program has had,” said Newhouse Dean Lorraine E. Branham. “He was unselfish in his giving and unstinting in his work as a final judge for the Toner Prize. We will miss him both for his benevolence and for his vigor in supporting excellence in political reporting.”
