The Newhouse School will launch the new Financial and Investor Communications Emphasis (FICE)  with a kickoff event April 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the Miron Room, 303 Newhouse 1.

The emphasis prepares students for communications careers in financial services, investor relations or business journalism. It is open to all Newhouse students who have declared a dual major or minor in finance in the Whitman School of Management; to Whitman School students wishing to take public relations or journalism courses in the Newhouse School; and to students from the College of Arts and Sciences who are majoring in economics, mathematics or related fields and who have taken at least one public relations or journalism course. Graduate students who have taken finance or economic courses at the undergraduate level may also be eligible.

The emphasis was made possible by a gift from alumnus Gary Kaminsky ’86, senior advisor to Morgan Stanley Global Wealth Management and the co-host of “Wall Street Week.”

The kickoff event will include presentations from several alumni from related professional fields, including:

  • Luke Barrett ’07, director of external affairs for TPG;
  • Jack Gutt ’92, executive vice president and head of communications and outreach for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York;
  • Keith Lippert ’78, partner and strategic counsel for LHA;
  • Daniel Moore ’08, managing director of Joele Frank;
  • Rebecca Neufeld ’06, senior manager of corporate communications at Yahoo; and
