Newhouse advertising students advance in AAF’s National Advertising Competition

The American Advertising Federation (AAF) announced Friday that the team from Syracuse University would advance as the Wildcard team to the national round of the National Student Advertising Competition, which will be held June 5-8  in Phoenix, Ariz.

The Wildcard round was a competition between the SU team and a team from the University of Illinois, with SU winning 40.4 to 31.8.

The team, presenting an integrated advertising campaign for Glidden Paint/Walmart, won second place at the AAF District 2 competition on April 27.

Student team members include Stefan Hanley of Scotland; Lauren Silverman of Philadelphia; Robert Bloomberg of Long Island; Allie Guggenheimer of New York; and Megan Miller of Broadalbin, N.Y. Team adviser is associate professor of advertising Ed Russell, with assistance from professor of practice Kevin O'Neill, department chair James Tsao and associate professor and associate dean Amy Falkner.
