Author, journalist, alumnus Jerry Barca G’02 to visit Newhouse, discuss his career in sports media

Barca is the author of “Unbeatable: Notre Dame's 1988 Championship and the Last Great College Football Season”

Author, journalist and alumnus Jerry Barca G’02 will visit the Newhouse School tomorrow to discuss his career in sports media and his new book, “Unbeatable: Notre Dame's 1988 Championship and the Last Great College Football Season.” He will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the I-3 Center, 432 Newhouse 3.

Barca talks sports on the “Ron and Fez Show” on Sirius/XM Radio. He is an associate producer of “Plimpton!,” the documentary on the life of author and sportswriter George Plimpton, and edited The New Journal, which is published at PlimptonMovie.com. In addition, he wrote for the site and conducted interviews with literary and writing notables including Lorin Stein, editor of The Paris Review; Terry McDonell, editor of Sports Illustrated; and Stefan Fatsis, bestselling author of “Word Freak.”

Barca’s writing has appeared in various publications including The New York Times, ESPN.com, SI.com, The Star-Ledger and The Asbury Park Press. He has worked in sports media relations at Notre Dame, Syracuse University and for the Detroit Lions.
