Learn how a leading marketing and communications agency leverages analytics and big data to build successful campaigns. Participants work with a team of peers to develop campaign tactics utilizing actual data, and will receive feedback from W2O Group experts. Pizza will be served.

“The Speed of Evolution: Reflections on the Past Five Years”: Weiss will reflect on the five years since the Center for Social Commerce (CSC) was established at Newhouse, and discuss what has changed during that time: AI, “fake news,” mobility, new platforms, increasing importance of analytics/insights, precise programming and the continued disruption in business (Amazon, CVS/Aetna, Tesla). Weiss will also discuss his continued commitment to the CSC and to Newhouse students while previewing what the next five years look like.

“Ushering in a Brave New World: How AI is Reshaping Your Career”: Alberto Canal, director of corporate communications at IBM, will discuss AI and cognitive (including IBM’s vision and strategy) and how it’s reshaping the modern newsroom. Canal will reflect on the changes and issues he has experienced, and how they relate to the role of analytics and insights in decision-making and reputation/relevance.
