Timi Komonibo is responsible for recruiting a talented and diverse first-year class for the Newhouse School. Timi also oversees the Newhouse Ambassador’s program, a group of diverse Newhouse students who serve as representatives of the Newhouse School during recruitment. The ambassadors assist with informational sessions and give tours of the facilities.
Timi is a 2015 graduate of Syracuse University’s dual-degree public diplomacy master’s program where she earned an M.S. in public relations from the Newhouse School and an M.A. in international relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. While at Syracuse, Timi was the recipient of the 2015 Orange Circle Award, honoring SU students who improve society through their philanthropic contributions, a 2014 Fast Forward Grant Winner and one of the university’s inaugural TEDxSyracuseUniversity speakers.
Timi previously served as the Washington, D.C. Chapter Leader of the LEVO League, fostering connections between Generation Y women in the nation’s capital. Prior to these roles, she has interned with USAID/OFDA’s Center for International Disaster Information, Pyxera Global and International Student Exchange Program (ISEP). Timi was also a Teach for America Corps Member in Houston, Texas. She earned two bachelor’s degrees in communication studies and African diaspora studies from The University of Texas at Austin.
