Kelly C. Gaggin is a senior public relations consultant with Strategic Communications, LLC in Syracuse, New York, and a Ph.D. candidate in mass communications at Newhouse. Her professional communications career spans nearly 20 years and includes experience corporate and agency environments. Her work encompasses a multitude of industries including: K-12 education, health care, technology, defense, nonprofit, tourism/hospitality and financial services/banking.

Gaggin teaches graduate and undergraduate students in the public relations department. Her courses include public relations campaigns, public relations writing and social media analytics. As a part-time professor at State University of New York College at Oswego, she taught survey in public relations and case studies in public relations.

Her professional background and personal interest in world cultures motivate a research agenda rooted in exploring public relations and strategic communications as drivers of cross-cultural understanding and relationship-building with special attention to nonprofit organizations and the populations they serve. Other research interests include public diplomacy and gastrodiplomacy.

A past president of the Central New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) she remains active as the current PRSSA chapter liaison and professional adviser for both SUNY College at Oswego and Syracuse University, and is active on the PRSA Northeast District board of directors. She is a member of AEJMC and has earned the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential.

In 2012, Gaggin was recognized with 40 Under Forty distinction for her career accomplishments and commitment to her community. She continues to serve her community through support of outreach initiatives and board memberships as well as lectures and programs sharing her expertise with community groups.

Gaggin earned a Master of Science in Communications Management from Newhouse, presenting her capstone research project "Great Expectations: Identifying Linkages between External Communications and the Propensity for Advocacy in K-12 School Districts." She completed her undergraduate study in business administration, marketing and economics at Le Moyne College in Syracuse.
