Catherine Loper

Catherine Loper has been director of news and public affairs at WRVO Public Media since April 2012. At WRVO, she oversees regional news coverage for broadcast and online. The station covers a wide area of central and northern New York.

Loper came to WRVO following a 19-year career in Washington, D.C. as a television producer, reporter and writer, senior producer and newsroom manager. She served as director of news for the Washington Bureau of the Fox News Channel, director of White House coverage for Fox News for four years during the terms of President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. Loper also covered the John Kerry presidential campaign in 2004, traveling the country to follow the candidate. Before working for Fox, she worked for Canadian Television Network (CTV), ABC NewsOne and APTN, all in Washington, D.C. Loper began teaching political reporting at Newhouse in the fall of 2014.
