Newhouse School of Communications

Television, Radio, and Film:

In the first two years students take a series of core courses introduce them to the ways in which sight, sound and motion are used to create messages in the electronic media and film. They study the systems of production, distribution and exhibition and their economic, political and social impact on the world.

In the junior and senior years students take on more advanced work in screenwriting, production, management and courses in communications law and critical perspectives on the electronic media and film.

The opportunity to collaborate is one of the strengths of the Television-Radio-Film program. Students spend many hours working in teams on projects, in the same way they will eventually work with others in the profession.

As with all Newhouse students, the Television-Radio-Film Department is arts and sciences intensive. Exposure to broad areas of coursework not only help graduates become well-rounded and well-informed individuals but also make them better writers and communicators. Many of our majors select a second major in the College of Arts and Sciences.
