Nancy Snow is associate professor of public diplomacy in the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She teaches in the dual degree masters program in public diplomacy sponsored by the Newhouse and Maxwell Schools as well as special topics courses such as global communications and a spring 2009 course on President Obama's First 100 Days.
Snow serves as Senior Research Fellow in the Center on Public Diplomacy at the University of Southern California and as a lifetime member of the Public Diplomacy Council at George Washington University. She is also a lifetime member of the Fulbright Association in Washington, D.C., having been a Fulbright scholar to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Snow is co-director of the Luce Project in Religion, Media, and International Relations at the Maxwell School on Citizenship and Public Affairs. She also serves as a faculty affiliate in the Leaders for Democracy Fellows (LDF) Program and guest lecturer for the Executive Education Program.
Snow is the author or co-editor of six books. On January 20, 2009, she released Persuader-in-Chief: Global Opinion and Public Diplomacy in the Age of Obama (Nimble Books). She is lead editor with Philip M. Taylor (University of Leeds, UK) of the 2008 Routledge Handbook of Public Diplomacy. She is the author of The Arrogance of American Power: What U.S. Leaders Are Doing Wrong and Why It's Our Duty to Dissent (Rowman & Littlefield, 2006); Information War: American Propaganda, Free Speech and Opinion Control Since 9/11 (Seven Stories Press, 2004), which is available in Japanese and forthcoming in Chinese translation; and Propaganda, Inc.: Selling America's Culture to the World (Seven Stories Press, 2002), available in Farsi, Japanese, and Portuguese translations. She is editor with Yahya Kamalipour of War, Media and Propaganda: A Global Perspective (Rowman & Littlefield, 2004).
In fall 2009, Propaganda, Inc. will be released in its third edition.
Dr. Snow is a blogger for the Huffington Post. She is a frequent media source about American culture and politics, including Brand America and Brand Obama.
