Sung-Un Yang, Ph.D. (University of Maryland, 2005), is an assistant professor of Public Relations at S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University. He also serves a professor in the Public Diplomacy program at Syracuse University.
Dr. Yang teaches Public Relations Priniciples and Concepts (PRL 206); Public Relations Research (PRL 315/PRL 611); and Introduction to Public Diplomacy and Communications (PRL 602). In 2009, he won Syracuse University’s Teaching Recognition Award from the Meredith Program at Syracuse University.
Dr. Yang’s research agenda includes organization-public relationship management; reputation management of organizations and countries; new/social media and communication effectiveness; and crisis and risk communication. He has received several awards for his research, including the 2004 - 2006 Best Doctoral Dissertation Award from International Communication Association (ICA) Public Relations Division and Top Research Paper awards from most major international conferences in his field, including International Communication Association (ICA), Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
He currently serves on the editorial boards of Communication Research, Journal of Public Relations Research, and Communication Quarterly. Dr. Yang is the author of Reputation Management for Organizations: Effects of Organization-Public Relationships and 26 referred conference papers, as well as authoring or coauthoring 22 referred publications in several reputable referred journals in his field, including Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, Corporate Reputation Review, Journal of Communication Management, Public Relations Journal, Higher Education, Journal of Marketing in Higher Education, and other journals.
