Mark Tinker '73

Mark Tinker '73 is a Television Director & Producer. His 32-year career in television began as a production assistant at Lorimar Production, where he worked on "The Waltons." He moved on to become an Associate Producer at MTM Productions on various programs including "The Bob Newhart Show," where he was given his first shot at directing. Bruce Paltrow offered Mr. Tinker the job of Producer on "The White Shadow." That pairing led to a decade-long producing relationship highlighted by the long running and acclaimed medical drama "St. Elsewhere." Tinker has worked with David Milch, producing "Capitol News." Following 15 years with MTM, Tinker joined 20th Century Fox as Executive Producer for Steven Bochco's series "Civil Wars." He then became Executive Producer of the last season of "L.A. Law," before rejoining Milch as Executive Producer of "NYPD Blue."

Tinker has earned four Emmy Awards and been nominated 16 times. He has been nominated for seven Director's Guild of America Awards and has two George Foster Peabody Awards. Tinker is currently working to establish an S.U. West campus to afford students an opportunity to learn from and participate in professional production in Hollywood.
