Newhouse School of Communications

Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and Office of Electronic Media Communications will present an advance screening of the film “Frost/Nixon” on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Gifford Auditorium, Huntington Beard Crouse Hall. Associate producer William M. Connor ’89 will introduce the film and take part in a question-and-answer session following the screening. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in SU pay lots.

Directed by Ron Howard, “Frost/Nixon” explores the story behind journalist David Frost’s 1977 interview of former president Richard Nixon—the first interview Nixon had granted since resigning from the presidency three years earlier. The film is billed as “the untold story of the historic encounter that changed the relationship between journalism and politics forever.” Frank Langella plays Nixon, and Michael Sheen plays Frost. The screenplay was written by Peter Morgan.

Connor’s production work includes serving as second assistant director on the feature films “Ransom,” “As Good as It Gets,” “Dance With Me,” “EDtv” and “The Bachelor.” His work as a first assistant director includes “John Q,” “Stop-Loss,” “The Missing,” “Cinderella Man” and “The Da Vinci Code.” He is currently working on the film adaptation of “Angels & Demons.”

Connor has been honored with a Director’s Guild of America (DGA) Award for his work on “Apollo 13,” and has been part of three other DGA Award-nominated teams. He is a 1989 graduate of the Newhouse School.
