ALUMNI SERVICES:

The Newhouse Alumni Career Advisory Network (NACAN) is a volunteer network of 3,800+ alumni serving as networking contacts and offering valuable career advice and support. NACAN contacts are not to be used for any solicitation purposes, such as pitching of business ideas or fundraising.

The CDC receives several NACAN requests per week. Allow 1-2 weeks for contacts to be mailed. If you have not received your contacts after two weeks email an inquiry to: nhcdc@syr.edu

Due to the high volume of requests we do not give contacts over the telephone.

IMPORTANT: Broad request will not be processed.
You must give a specific field (public relations, marketing, advertising, television, etc.,) position or function (acct mgmt, creative, production, writing, reporting, etc) and a maximum of three city/states. If you request “Northeast” as a location it will not be processed.

Once you receive the contacts, take a moment to review the “Quick Networking Tip” sheet included in your packet. It will give you a refresher on the basics of networking with your fellow alumni.

The CDC understands these are difficult times and would like to remind you of some of the services we offer free of charge:

  • One-to-one career counseling: We would be more than happy to schedule phone appointments to discuss career concerns, strategies in finding employment, skills assessments and networking refreshers.
  • Cover letter and résumé review
