Carol Liebler’s research centers on media and diversity issues, and particularly on gender as it intersects with race and ethnicity. Current work explores hegemonic beauty ideals across various media platforms, both in the United States and China. She is also interested in news media visibility of missing children and women, with past research examining media critique of “The Missing White Woman Syndrome.”
