Interested in communicating with images? Our graphic design program allows you to do just that. You'll learn how to create visual communications for newspapers, magazines and multimedia presentations. Our multimedia photography and design coursework emphasizes computer production techniques; you will also learn photography, communications writing and communications law and ethics.
To be admitted to Newhouse's graphic design program, you'll be asked to submit a portfolio of photos, graphics work and communications writing after completing three basic courses: Introduction to the Graphic Arts, News Writing and Principles of Photography. Graphic design majors also must pass a senior portfolio review. In total, you'll complete 36 hours of Newhouse classes.
For complete major requirements and a list of available undergraduate graphic design courses, see the Syracuse University Course Catalog.
