On Campus Recruiting

The Career Development Center offers a host of recruiting assistance services to communications employers.

Campus Visits
The CDC welcomes any employer that would like to come to campus and interact with students. You may hold company information sessions, interview students on campus or both. You may also, depending on schedules, present information in classes. The CDC is flexible in setting up campus visits and will help set up an event that will meet your needs as well as those of the students you're trying to reach. All campus visits are free.

The Central New York Communications Consortium (since 1992)
This annual event involves the Newhouse School, Ithaca College, Colgate, Cornell and LeMoyne, and brings more than 35 communications companies to the SU campus for two days of interviewing each April. Before the event, participating companies provide us with internship and/or job descriptions (typically entry-level), and students from the five colleges submit resumes and letters online. Companies select those students they wish to interview and we schedule the one-on-one meetings. Companies may elect to interview one or two days. A pre-Consortium career fair kicks off the event. See CNY Communications Consortium for more information, or contact Kelly Brown at kjbrow01@syr.edu if you'd like to participate.

Communications Internship Fair
Each September Newhouse holds an informal Communications Internship Fair where companies and students can connect. Though mostly regional/local companies participate, we have a number of national companies who attend and look for internship candidates for the following summer. Contact Kelly Brown at kjbrow01@syr.edu to be added to the invitation list. Participation is free.

Recruiting for Non-Communications Opportunities
Syracuse University's Center for Career Services manages opportunities in all fields of industry.

Campus-wide Career Fairs
Syracuse University's central career office holds two university-wide career fairs each year-one in late September and one in late January. Company representatives ‘man' information tables while students circulate and gather information. Contact Debi Walker at (315) 443-3616.
