






Chris is the arts and entertainment editor of TheNewsHouse.com at Syracuse University. He has served as managing editor of LIVE Magazine, designed internet marketing campaigns, owned his own business, sold home and auto insurance, and backpacked across Europe. His spare time is spent making and listening to music. He is a trumpet player, guitar player, and part-time DJ. On weekends he can be found attending concerts throughout Central New York, which he reviews on his blog: MusiCuse.
A lover of delta blues, 50’s rock n’roll, and hardcore punk, Josh has an appetite for all things raw and feedback-laden. He currently contributes to the Newhouse School’s online magazine Newshouse and as an undergraduate, covered the Oxford music scene for The Daily Mississippian, the University of Mississippi’s student newspaper. Josh graduated from Ole Miss in May of 2011 with a BA in History. An avid guitar player, Robert Palmer devotee, and aspiring record collector, Josh spends what little free time he has immersed in music. He also enjoys reading the work of his favorite fiction writer, Sylvia Plath. Josh is originally from Charlottesville, Virginia.
From playing the flute for over half of her life to having an interest in slice of live documentaries, Amy has always been fascinated by the arts. Her high school job of fitting brides in designer gown and sewing tuxedos has pointed Amy towards a career in fashion journalism. She graduated from Illinois State University with a B.A. In English and Cinema Studies. While a regular contributor of film reviews and local news to The Indy newspaper, she has also had a short fiction piece published in Euphemism literary magazine. Sarah DeSantis is interested in the creation of sustainable urban communities and revitalization of existing neighborhoods through historic preservation and architectural planning. She has written for the Post-Standard, Town&Gown and Kalliope, Penn State’s literary magazine. While earning her B.A. in English at Penn State, Sarah worked as a teaching assistant and a tutor. She currently holds an instructor assistantship in the Communications department. Through the Goldring Arts Journalism program and the Syracuse University School of Architecture, Sarah hopes to gain the skills necessary to work in communications at an architecture firm specializing in historic preservation or landmarks consultant.
Mary's life moves in a 4/4 time signature and is narrated in the cadence of Tennessee Williams. As the current dramaturgical intern at the Syracuse Stage, she is learning to combine her love of rigorous research and the arts. While attending the Florida State University, she worked as the fiction editor of the nationally recognized undergraduate literary magazine, the Kudzu Review. Mary graduated summa cum laude from FSU in 2011 with a degree in creative writing and a minor in twentieth century humanities. She attended an arts magnet high school in her hometown of Ft. Myers, Florida, where she honed her skills in acting, playwriting, and technical theater. She is a lover of everything Vogue, a flute player since the age of 12, and a playwright in her spare time.
Leah Harrison is a musicologist turned arts journalist, specializing in how cultures use and appropriate masterpieces in the classical music canon. Leah interns in the arts department of the Post Standard and serves as research assistant to Gustav Niebuhr of the Carnegie Corporation. She is published by www.cnycafemomus.com, the Post Standard, and Florida State University, where she received a master's degree in musicology. Leah also holds a bachelor's degree from Converse College where she studied music history and philosophy. She grew up in the Blue Ridge foothills of South Carolina and adores southern folk music, travel, and dogs, and is among America's most enthusiastic pro-cycling fans.
Andrew is the founder of Film Geek Radio, an online network of digital audio programming related to film and television criticism. He hosts “Cinema Fix,” a show devoted to discussion and analysis of mainstream blockbuster films, and “Let’s Get Reel,” on which he interviews independent filmmakers about their work. He has contributed written film criticism and arts features to a variety of publications, including the Syracuse New Times, CaryCitizen, and GordonAndTheWhale.com. He also interned under Oscar-winning director Barbara Trent, shot and edited dozens of video projects, and has spent extensive time in Latin America and China. In his spare time he can usually be found at the movies, curled up with a book, or pondering the mysteries of the universe with a good cup of coffee.
Samara caught the journalism itch while attending local music shows in hole-in-the-wall venues across Michigan. She is an editorial intern at the New Times and her writing has appeared in the Syracuse-based publications Making Music Magazine and International Musician. Fascinated by all things underground, she covered local arts. She developed a taste for artisan gelato at Revue Magazine, the niche entertainment guide of her Grand Rapids home. She graduated from Michigan State University with degrees in English and Russian, ardor for the tenor saxophone, and a hefty honors thesis on graphic novels. Aasimah is a thespian, writer and chronic foodie. Originally from Bangalore, India, she has written for major dailies such as The Deccan Herald and her local town paper, In & Around. Aasimah attained her Bachelor's degree from the University of Warwick in the UK. She went on to teach Theater and Effective Communication at the Bangalore School of Speech and Drama for two years. During her time in the UK, she produced a full length film, acted in various productions and co-hosted the annual International Film Festival. Frank is an intern at the Syracuse Post-Standard and reviews the latest in film as a co-host of the Cinema Fix podcast. He recently covered the 2011 Toronto Film Festival for the literary journal Stone Canoe, where he wrote reviews of the movies Moneyball and Friends with Kids; he also contributed a critique of a local theatrical production of A Few Good Men to greenroomreviews.com. Frank loves to hear a good story that is well told, and is drawn to television in particular for its ability to weave complex narratives with offbeat characters.
Rebecca Seel is an art lover and popular culture enthusiast from Vestal, NY. She is currently interning at The Post-Standard and writing for Newshouse. During the two years she edited the Arts & Entertainment section of Union College’s Concordiensis, Rebecca wrote on art exhibits, awards shows, television, and internet memes, with an ironically controversial column on hipsters. She graduated from Union in 2011 with a major in American Studies and double minors in English and art history. Rebecca enjoys high fantasy, collects museum postcards, and is a connoisseur of costume dramas.
Lauren Smart covered art exhibits, operas, concerts and plays while working as a freelance journalist in Dallas. She earned her Bachelor’s at Southern Methodist University in journalism and creative writing. She served as the Arts & Entertainment Editor while in school, interviewing everyone from local artists and performers, to Glenn Close and Jim Lehrer. Kelundra is currently a marketing and public relations intern at Syracuse Stage working on social media outreach and writing press releases for productions. Her last internship was at Arcola Theatre in London where she wrote press releases, copy for season brochures and was press manager for their show Boy with a Suitcase as a part of London Refugee Week. She aspires to work in media relations for Broadway and major regional theatres helping to improve the relationship between news publications and the performing arts. She wrote for The University of Georgia's multicultural magazine Infusion and she wrote a case study on balanced reporting in immigration reform stories for the Grady College of Mass Communications McGill Fellows program. Srimathi is an avid pop culture and television enthusiast who checks People, US Weekly and E! Online frequently throughout the day to get her fill of news in the entertainment world. When she isn’t reading about the lives of celebrities or TV shows, she writes about them on her blog, glitzglamourgossip.wordpress.com.
In 2009, Srimath interned in Chennai, India, with “The Hindu” one of India’s national leading newspapers. She wrote and published a book review, food review, feature on American and Indian cultural differences, and a story on drug usage and awareness for four articles for their supplement, “The Next Generation” (NxG).
Srimathi was raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland and is a 2011 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Miami University of Ohio with degrees in Journalism and English Literature. She was born in Chennai, India, and lived in Singapore for four years before finally moving to the States in 1995. Srimathi speaks Tamil fluently, and is conversant in French. Srimathi hopes to work in the field of entertainment journalism, counting E! News’ Giuliana Rancic as one of her role models.

Leah Stacy’s writing and photography have appeared in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Insider magazine, NextStepU magazine, HerRochester and the Post-Standard. After earning an English degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2008, she worked as an entertainment web producer for Gannett & Metromix.com, freelance writer/photographer and arts publicist for several theater companies. During her time at Newhouse, she’s working as communications coordinator for Arts.Engage, the office of the University arts presenter, and instructional assistant for Newhouse. Leah is also a licensed cosmetologist. In her free time, she's taught children’s theater classes and appeared as a Disney princess at birthday parties. A dance devotee and overall performing arts enthusiast, Dani aims to integrate her fascination with video storytelling and the expressive movement to report dance in a visually stimulating fashion. She is currently interning at the magazine “Today’s CNY Woman,” where she meets and writes profile stories on inspirational women throughout the Central New York area. Dani worked as an online general assignment reporter for Fresno State’s the “Collegian,” produced the campus news show “The Bulldog Bulletin,” and interned at the news station KFSN-TV before graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in Mass Communications and Journalism. Her vice: the addictive portrayal of dance on reality TV.
