Graduates of Newhouse’s advertising programs are an elite group, highly sought after by ad agencies across the country.
Our master’s degree program builds upon your undergraduate education and prepares you for a successful, dynamic career in the advertising industry.
While studying at Newhouse, you will gain real-world experience and enter the job market with developed skills and multiple advertising exhibits for presentation to potential employers. In addition, the advertising faculty promote students by reaching out to ad agencies and companies throughout the country.
Here are just some of the employers who have hired recent advertising graduates
Special efforts include the following:
- “Just One” mentorship
Many advertising alumni mentor “just one” student on an individual basis. Mentorship includes mock interviews, resume writing, job/internship tips and connections to other professionals with similar career interests.
- Ad agency visits
Faculty routinely promote the program and its graduates by visiting top agencies in New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boulder. We’ve established close connections with HR directors, top executives and alumni in these agencies.
- Internships/jobs placements
Faculty regularly help place students in ad agencies, many of which provide us with regular notice of job opportunities and internships. Our alumni network, faculty contacts and the Newhouse Career Development Center combine to make our students highly marketable.
- The Newhouse Career Development Center
The Newhouse Career Development Center (CDC), one of the best career resources on campus, offers events, seminars and databases to help students prepare for a career in advertising. The CDC also maintains the Newhouse Alumni Career Advisory Network (NACAN), which contains contact information for some 4,000 alumni who have volunteered to provide career advice to students.
- Recruiting events
Top-notch ad agencies regularly attend CDC recruiting events, including the annual Central New York Communications Consortium (CNYCC), a three-day event comprising a career fair and two days of on-campus interviews. Companies such as Cohn & Wolfe, Draftfcb, Edelman, GroupM, JWT, McCann Erickson, MediaCom, MediaVest and Universal McCann are regular participants.
